- There are many ways that types of hotel can be differentiated, e.g. by size, target group, operator model, scope of service or location.
- For several years now, there have been indications that changes in the hotel industry are both imminent and necessary. The coronavirus crisis from 2020 acted as a catalyst. Only those who have a clear direction and can satisfy the needs of their main target group have a chance in the long term.
- A hotel business offers a wide range of services, mainly accommodation, meals and "other" services such as conferences, wellness, garages, etc.
- Personnel is usually organised in a line-staff structure.
