Learning goals:
The students of the degree programme Bachelor „International tourism management/ Health & medical tourism“ as well as of the degree programme master
„International tourism development“ at the European Campus as well as of all other degree programmes of the participating universities gain insight into the hospitality industry,
the general context, the most important departments of a hotel and the major focus of the management.
The attendance to the course leads to the following professional competence:

The students know and understand the basic types of hotels, their service offer, forms of organisation and contracts, structures, standards and processes.
They are familiar with the actual and specific challenges of the industry.
- Actual trends, mainly in view of digitalisation and sustainability will be taught in a special module, but also accompany through the entire progress of the course.

They came across the most important departments and areas of a hotel in detail, their tasks, goals and cross-departemental connections.
The specific challange in staff management in the service industry becomes apparent.
- Mordern distribution and yield management with their charactaristics are familiar, respective processes and tools have been explained.

Students learn how to create actual state analysis, the collecting, understanding and evaluating of ratios,
the analysis and classification of products and services, as well as the handling of external ratings.
They learn to develop respective ways, goals and strategies on the basis of the analysed status quo for the analysed enterprise.
- The students are familiar with the basic execution of a financial planning including budgeting and investment planning.

Tasks:
Please upload the homewors in the task area. Note, that the tasks assigned during the course are not „mandatory“ in the sense of proceeding to the next module.
They are not a precondition to take part in the exam. But they serve your understanding of the taught content and mainly as a training for your future professional activity.
You will receive respective feedback in form of a sample solution right after the task in the module or directly in the exchange forum.
Examination:
The participation in this course correlates with a working effort of 2 semester week hours. You will need the same time for repetition, solving the tasks and personal research.
Details to the examination:
- You will find a sample exam as well as its solution at the end of the course. It will only be unlocked when you have passed all modules.
- The real exam will consist of questions on a similar level.
- You can reach 50 points for this part of the examination.

The exam will be counted together with the complementary lessons in presence at your university for the achieving of the total 5 ECTS points.
It is possible (as in the case of campus Rothenburg) that both parts (VHB online and presence) will be tested in one exam.
Please check if there are divergencies according to the examination regulations at your home university.

The exam will be held as a presence examination at current state. You will get for the online part 45 minutes.
As mentioned in most cases the exam will take place together with the presence part, for which you can reach 50 points as well and will also get 45 minutes time.
- Locations for the exam will be Pfarrkirchen and Rothenburg. The dates will be published in the examination schedule of your university.
- Registration:
Preconditions to generate a proof of participation:
- You must be registered at the VHB for this course.
- You have worked through all the modules and have solved 80% of the quiz questions.
